Hawthorne
Gaston County’s first Traditional Neighborhood Development. As Director of Real Estate Operations for Pharr Yarns, Bob Clay was responsible for the re-development of the Imperial Mill Village in Belmont, NC. Phase 1 of this development is comprised of 26 luxury townhomes and 73 high-end, single-family residential homes. Bob Clay was responsible for the entitlement process, land planning, complete infrastructure development, and the sales and marketing of the homes. This unique community is located within walking distance of historic Downtown Belmont with parks, rear-loaded garages from alleyways and classic, brick construction.
 
     
 
   
Adams Bluff Subdivision
As Director of Real Estate Operations for Pharr Yarns, Inc. located in McAdenville, NC, Robert Clay oversaw the re-development of the 44-acre Crescent Mill Village. Starting with 39 deteriorated, existing mill homes, he helped evolve Adams Bluff into a 161-home neighborhood, architecturally combining the re-construction of the existing housing with newly constructed homes. This neighborhood is located in Belmont, NC, and is a thriving community with an active Homeowner’s Association helping to shape Belmont’s future.
 
     
 
   
Grandover Resort
Bob Clay was recruited by the Koury Corporation in Greensboro, NC to help Chairman Joe Koury fulfill his dream of developing a golf course Resort and Conference Center to supplement the 1000-room Koury Convention Center. As Vice President of Residential Development, Clay was responsible for the acquisition of additional acreage, land and lotting plans - assisting with entitlements, golf course construction and infrastructure development. Today, the 1400-acre Grandover Resort and Conference Center is a reality with two 18- hole Championship Golf Courses, a magnificent conference hotel with resort and spa facilities, high-end single-family homes, office buildings and retail facilities.
 
     
 
   
Olmsted Park
While serving as Vice President of Development for MECA Properties, Inc., Bob Clay oversaw the acquisition of the old Crockett Park site in the Dilworth Neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. He coordinated public meetings to design the land plan with the local stakeholders, which led to the first infill TND (Traditional Neighborhood Development) in this region. Olmsted Park evolved into a 138-unit luxury apartment development surrounded by single-family detached homes and duplexes that were built in a joint venture with Crosland. The land was developed by MECA under Clay’s supervision.
